Samui Attraction's

Hinta and Hinya
Another one of Samui's most visited sites, Hinta and Hinyai the Grandfather and Grandmother phallic rocks which are as popular with Thai people as it is with the foreigners.  It is believed that the two rocks represent doomed lovers who drowned themselves in the sea because their families disapproved of their relationship.  This story is in full detail on a large notice board at the site.  The site can be found easily only a couple of minutes South of Lamai Beach or alternatively is you choose to take an around the island tour or island safari all the operators have this site as one of the tours attractions.

The most popular of the islands waterfalls are both named Na Muang (meaning purple in Thai). The first can be found a few hundred meters from the ring road and the second after a 30 minute jungle trek. The water almost chilly to touch cascades down to create large natural pools that is suitable for swimming. However caution must be taken when jumping in as there are many hidden rocks in these pools.  Na Muang falls can be found on the main ring road between Lamai and Nathon almost opposite Wat Khunarem.

Hin Lad Waterfall
If you’re ready for a hike then Hin Lad Waterfall is worth a visit.  Just before you reach Nathon town you can find this somewhat less visited attraction. However just because it is less visited than the popular Na Muang falls the Hin Lad falls are still a breath taking sight, it just takes your breath away reaching it over roughly a three kilometre jungle trek.   During the dryer parts of the year it may not be so worthwhile visiting this falls as with any of the Samui falls they are much more spectacular when it is rainy season and the rivers are full.

Well if you were on an Island Safari tour the next stop after the Na Muang falls would be an incredible 4x4 trek up the mountain side to the secluded location of the Secret Buddha Garden. High up the mountainside the views here are spectacular and although you have this feeling of nobody being around there are still restaurants and cafe’s where you can have refreshments and food.  The garden itself was constructed by a single monk who used his bare hands to expertly craft the statues. It is definitely a must see tourist attraction and can be reached by off road bike by the more adventurous but it is worthwhile taking a Island Safari  trip and relax on the amazing journey up the mountain side.
