Wat Phra Yai
The big buddha is a 12m tall golden statue of teh buddha image. Probably one of Samui's
most visited attractions and teh most popular place for tourists to visit when they wish to get blessed by a monk. Despite being such a big tourist attraction and having many cafe's and souvenier shops the same rules apply to visiting the temple grounds. Please respect this and wear appropriate clothing when visiting any of the many temples around the island.
Wat Plai Laem
One of the most colourful collection of buddist images on the island from the chinese buddist culture. The temple is situated int eh middle of a large lake where thousand of fresh water fish can been seen feeding on the surface. Don't worry if you forget to bring some food to feed the fish as it is available from the temple with a minimal donation of 10baht. Here too it is possible to be blessed by the monks working but you need to respect that they are often unavailable.
Wat Khunarem
Home to the famous mummified monk, a man who passed away in 1977 and is still yet to decompose. It is believed his strong buddist beliefs and hours spent in meditation have preserved his body after he passed away and he can still be found at the temple sitting in the same position he was in when he passed on.
